In a world where magic collides with alien tech, Ale the last elf and a rogue frog-pirate must join forces to stop the sinister Mindbenders from corrupting their forest.
The Dark Portal is a genre-bending adventure bursting with heart, humour, and cosmic chaos, brought to life by Emmy-winning duo StudioNX, the animation and gaming studio behind work for Marvel, Disney, and Amazon Studios. They’re raising $4500 to kickstart the series and pitch it to major networks.
Story
In a whimsical forest teetering on the brink of collapse, Ale the last elf, stumbles into a destiny far bigger than herself. She inherits a sentient alien gauntlet and teams up with Sid, a cynical frog-pirate with a broken heart. Together, they must navigate a magical rite of passage, decode insect dialects, and outwit the sinister Mindbenders who are poisoning their land.
As a trainee druid, Ale learns to embrace her quirks and listen to the forest’s hidden voice, soon discovering that true power lies not in spells or strength, but in connection, courage, and being unapologetically herself.
The creators
StudioNX, the degen duo behind this project, previously kickstarted the worlds first fully animated comic 'Niko & the Sword of Light'. It hit no1 on the iOS appstore and went onto become a multi-award winning series on Amazon Prime. Now they survive as Degens of fortune by creating their own indie animated series, games and digital comics.
The campaign
Introducing The Dark Portal - a genre-bending sci-fi fantasy adventure that fuses the handcrafted magic of Studio Ghibli, the whimsical madness of Alice in Wonderland, and the epic lore of Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal. Backers will get an animated cover, an intro comic that sets the story in motion, exclusive concept art and behind-the-scenes access to our Emmy award winning process.

- $2250 to ink & color the comic teaser
- $1800 to design/animate the exclusive cover
- TOTAL $4500
Future rounds if this stage is fully funded we plan to do a larger second round on Fundl to complete the full pitch including cinematic trailer and animated comic. We will follow our proven path to success by pitching it to publishers and then taking it to our network of execs including Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network.
